English
1) We've begun reading Hana's Suitcase.  Today students answered some questions based on Chapters 1-4 in Google Classroom.

2) We'll write a test based on Spelling List #15 (last week's words) on Friday.

Math
Today students worked on finding the area of polygons by breaking the polygon into smaller shapes (rectangles, triangles, and parallelograms) and using formulas to find those areas.  Nelson textbook, Chapter 8, Lesson 6, #1-6 (due tomorrow).

Science
Students are building an electric car in small groups.  When finished, they will independently explain how their car works using their knowledge of simple electric circuits.

Social Studies
We spent time looking at various Canadian banknotes and analyzing the symbols used.  We discussed how the symbols on the banknotes represent Canadian values, contributions, and identity.  Students are now going to design their own banknote, choosing symbols, themes, and a prominent Canadian that they feel represent Canadian identity.
