Novel study job and reading response question (due Thursday).  Reading response question is posted in Google classroom.

Math
Chapter 6, Lesson 7 #A-C and 1-8.  We are practicing how to divide by 1000 and 10000.  Remember, to divide by 1000 and 10000, just move the decimal place 4 or 5 spaces to the left.

Ex.  943000 divided by 1000 is 943.  943000 divided by 10000 is 94.3.

Social Studies
First Nations inquiry project is due next Monday.

Students choose a novel for their first novel study.  Tonight and tomorrow they need to read be reading so they can be ready for their meeting on Thursday.

Math
Students had a double math period today, so we finished the questions we didn't get to on Friday and then they had a lesson on Identifying Multiples.

Science
Today was a work period for the students pollinators project.  We're hoping to have everything wrapped up by Friday.  Remember to bring in materials for your diorama so we can work on them.

Social Studies
There is a new assignment in the social studies Google classroom.  Students are investigating how First Nations, Metis, and Inuit communities or individuals have contributed to Canada.  They are allowed to work in pairs or by themselves.

English
Students are reading a short story of their choice and completing some tasks (story map, vocabulary log, response questions).  They'll be meeting with other students on Friday to discuss the story.  All work is due Friday.

Students are also writing a news article this week.  I've asked them to come to class tomorrow with a draft of their article for revising and editing.  The article can be on the Terry Fox Walk, the Ice Dump Challenge, or another news worthy event that they experienced.

Math
Tomorrow we begin our multiplication and division unit.  This year the students will use mental math, estimation, and other strategies to multiply and divide 4 digit numbers by 2 digit numbers.

Science
Students are working on an inquiry project on an Ontario pollinator.  They are making jot notes (due by the end of class tomorrow), creating a Google slideshow, giving a presentation, and making a diorama.  They were asked to bring in materials for their diorama so they can make it in class.

Social Studies
Students were asked to interview a family member who immigrated to Canada about their experience.
