Math
Tonight draw at least one more triangle that fits the course criteria for today's math problem.  Order the angles and opposite sides from greatest to least.  Test our two hypotheses about triangles...
  • All interior angles in a triangle add up to 180 degrees
  • The largest angle in a triangle will have an opposite side that is the longest on the triangle.

  • Read for 20 minutes
  • Spelling test for lesson 10 will be on Monday.
  • Write 3 (or more) small scenes for your short story idea that show your character's struggles and motivations (goals).  These scenes may or may not end up in your final draft, but it is good practice and helps you to get to know your character better.
Math
Next week we begin 2D Geometry.

Science
Hand in your PSAs.  We will look at them on Monday.  Remember to turn in on Google Classroom so I can give you a mark.

Social Studies
Today we watched this video on the experience of Chinese and Japanese immigrants.  We made jot notes in an organizer (in your mailbox) and had lots of good discussion.

  • Create line  and bar graphs and scatter plots with appropriate titles, labels, vertical and horizontal scales

Invasive species PSA (due today).  If you are having trouble uploading your project to Google Classroom, bring in a device, if possible, with your assignment on it and we will try to upload it tomorrow.  Note that on a phone or tablet, if you download the Google Classroom app you can usually upload any file on your device.

  • Read for 20 minutes tonight.  Read one of the linked short stories tonight, plus your personal novel.
  • Spelling Lesson 10 (test Friday).
  • Writing: Read one of the short stores that I put in the Writing section of Google Classroom (Mentor Texts for Short Story Writing).  Study it, and look at two things especially.  First, ask how stories like these tend to go?  Second, think about how this story may have grown from the writer's life.  What story idea might the writer have recorded in her/his writer's notebook to produce this story?  Write about these ideas in your writer's notebook.  Finally, spend 5 or 10 minutes looking at the story ideas you wrote in school today, and revise one of them in light of what you just read.
