Good afternoon.
Here's a quick reminder of where we left off in some of the subjects at school.
Math - We were learning about 3D Measurement (surface area and volume) and 3D Geometry. Most of the practice questions were in the Nelson Math textbook, Chapter 11.
Social Studies - We were learning about Canada's trading partners. Our next topic was going to be on Canadian NGOs and how Canada helps other countries around the world.
Science - We were finishing up a unit on Flight, and then we were going to learn about the solar system in our Space unit.

Forest of Reading
Hey there!
Ms. McGee asked me to pass along this link to the Forest of Reading website. On it you will find links to author talks, both recordings and a calendar for future live events. I started watching one for the book I read (The Mystery of Black Hollow Lane). Seemed pretty interesting.
Take care!

Hey everyone.
Last year I played this podcast for my students. It's a serial story for young people, voice acted by young people. The first season (10 episodes) is offered for free. We really enjoyed it. Maybe when you're finished you'll be inspired to make your own. Heads up that the first minute or two of each episode is promotion for season 3, so you may want to skip ahead to the actual story.

National Geographic is having free classes at 2:00 pm each day.
Here is a page with links to virtual tours of famous museums around the world. I checked out the British Museum today and it was pretty cool.
NASA's website is awesome.
I'll post more as I find them.
Stay positive and healthy!

Good afternoon!
I hope everyone is safe, healthy, and staying positive.
I've added some links that you may find useful over the next few weeks (on the right side of the blog).
A reminder to wash your hands frequently and practice social distancing. Read lots of books. Apparently Shakespeare wrote King Lear while in quarantine.
Hope to see everyone soon!

Today we began drawing a process chart for a product that is imported to Canada. We looked at the example of an orange that is imported from Pakistan. The orange is planted, grown, and harvested on a farm in Pakistan. Then the orange is shipped from the farm to a packaging plant. From there the orange is again shipped to a shipping port, and then either flown or shipped over seas to Canada. After that, the orange is shipped to a food inspection centre, then to a distribution centre, then a supermarket, and finally to the home of the consumer.
